A Message From The Pastor

I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to First Baptist Church of Guilford (FBCOG). Our church is also known as the “House of Faith” because we believe that our foundation in God is rooted in faith. Truly, God has prospered us and purposed in us the need to become a church with a ministry for the 21st century.  At FBCOG “House of Faith,” we believe in utilizing all our gifts to advance the Kingdom of God.

FBCOG’s mission has been and continues to be our commitment to lift up God’s Kingdom within the Global Community.  Our church strives to accomplish its mission through Preaching, Teaching, Reaching and Healing.

“Teaching” and “Preaching” are central parts of our efforts to evangelize, educate, and empower the church, the community and the world.  Our “Reach” is defined by the sub-themes of up-reach, in-reach and out-reach. Up-reach is demonstrated through our liturgy and worship to God. We believe in lifting up our hands, voices, and our words in adoration to God through worship.

In-reach is defined as the assembly of believers together for fellowship, strength, study, as a shared community with a witness to Jesus Christ.  Out-reach is defined as an extension of the shared community to those who are in need of the Kingdom witness. Healing is the byproduct of God’s grace and mercy towards us. We believe in tripartite Healing (Mind, Body, and the Soul). We do a yearly fast as a church body (the Daniel’s Fast) for 40 days during the season of Lent. We offer Marriage and Family Counseling (Spiritual/Non-Clinical). We also conduct seminars, health fairs, and various activities to help with mental and physical awareness.

My role, as pastor, is to make sure that FBCOG “House of Faith” remains relevant and resourceful in the 21st century. Our storied history must continue as we look forward to sparking a new beginning of our witness that is fueled by the tenacity of our past, the relevance of our present, and the ingenuity of our future. I encourage all of you to engage and commit as we advance God’s Kingdom together.

God bless you and keep you,
Pastor Tyrone P. Jones, IV
